Coach John Harrington’s team, which returns 10 of 13 varsity players, capped a storybook season by dethroning four-time defending state champion Brentwood Academy 65-54 and capturing its first state crown since 2008. Tournament MVP and Div. II Tennessee Mr. Basketball 6-1 JR point guard Kennedy Chandler (20 ppg, 5 apg) led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed five rebounds, then piloted Mokan Elite to a championship at the Nike Peach Jam/EYBL Finals in Augusta, Ga., in July. The stat-stuffing Chandler had 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds in a nationally televised, 85-84 overtime win over Team WhyNot in the title game.
