Marshals At A Glance
Coach Terry Birdsong’s squad struggled through an up-and-down winter after game-changing transfer 5-10 JR point guard Zion Harmon, who led Bowling Green to the KHSAA state championship as an eighth-grader, was ruled ineligible after his arrival from Adair County (32.7 ppg in 2017-18). The Marshals reached the 4th District final but lost to Murray 59-46 and again to Mayfield 71-56 in the 1st Region quarterfinals. The good news is that all 18 players who appeared in a varsity game last season are back (as is Harmon), notably 6-6 SR Jonathan Stokes (15.1 ppg, 9.7 rpg), 6-0 SR Tyler Powell (14.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and 6-4 SR Bryce Flatt (9 ppg). Harmon received permission to play for Bella Vista (Ariz.) in the Grind Session Championship, and promptly posted 23 points, nine boards and six assists in a 96-94 title-clinching win over SPIRE Academy (Ohio).
