Eagles At A Glance

Milton (the 2010 COP runner-up) returns to Fort Myers with one of its most promising rosters, fueled by a pair of dazzling young guards in 6-2 JR Bruce Thornton (23 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 6.1 apg) and 6-2 SOPH Kanaan Carlyle (14 ppg, 4 rpg, 3 apg, 1 spg). Coach Allen Whitehart’s squad listed only two seniors and two juniors on its 16-man roster, using key contributions from 6-4 SOPH L.T. Overton (9 ppg, 10 rpg), 6-1 JR Devin Farrell (5 ppg) and 6-3 JR Seth Fitzgerald (4 ppg, 3 rpg) to win 10 straight games down the stretch and roll into Georgia’s Class 7A semifinals. There are also two important transfers from nearby schools – 6-8 JR Kendall Campbell (17.4 ppg, 9.8 rpg at Meadowcreek) and 5-10 SR Broc Bidwell (15 ppg, 4 apg, 3 rpg, 2 spg at West Forsyth). Thornton, a first-team MaxPreps Sophomore All-American, erupted for 42 points in a one-point loss to eventual 7A runner-up Grayson, and had 28 in the semifinal loss to Wheeler.
