Fighting Irish At A Glance

Highly-touted 6-8 JR Paolo Banchero (18.2 ppg, 10.3 rpg) – universally considered a top-3 junior nationally – and several teammates, including 6-4 JR John Cristofilis, missed a significant portion of the ultra-competitive Metro League season, meaning Jason Kerr’s 11th-seeded Fighting Irish had to win four games in four days at the Tacoma Dome to raise their first 3A championship banner since 2007 (and sixth overall). Banchero had 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five blocks in a 70-39 rout of Mt. Spokane in the title game, with 6-4 SR Paul Johnson adding 19 points. O’Dea took down rival Eastside Catholic 49-41 (Banchero 22) in the semifinals.
