Lions At A Glance

Legacy’s program has been rapidly gathering steam under ninth-year head coach B.J. Jackson, averaging more than 26 wins over the past six seasons and winning two USA Prep national titles in a four-year span. But this roster promises to be his best, powered by a trio of high-major recruits – Florida State commit 6-6 SR Bryce McGowens (25.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2.0 spg at Wren SC), Maryland-bound 6-6 SR Ike Cornish (13.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg) and South Carolina pledge 6-1 SR Jacobi Wright (17.4 ppg, 5.3 apg, 3.7 rpg) – and one of the Palmetto State’s most prized juniors, 6-8 JR Perry Smith, Jr. (5.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg). McGowens led Wren to the Class 4A state semifinals and a 25-5 finish, scoring 30+ points in the Hurricanes’ last five wins and exploding for a school-record 65 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in a 103-78 pounding of Travelers Rest in the Upper State quarterfinals. Another new arrival, 6-9 SR Jason Baker (12.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3 bpg at Kiski Area PA) provides depth.
