Dolphins At A Glance

Coach Tyrone Slaughter’s Windy City powerhouse, driven by future NBA talent Jahlil Okafor, took Montverde Academy to OT in one of four City of Palms appearances (2010, 2012-14), and now return with a guard-heavy roster and another top-25 talent, Duke-bound 6-3 SR D.J. Steward (24.3 ppg, 3 apg), who is coming off a monster spring/summer. Steward, a transfer from Fenwick as a junior who has been a part of 75 wins in his three-year high school career, adapted quickly to the rigors of Slaughter’s always-brutal schedule and led the Dolphins on a 13-1 late-season run before a 53-51 loss to Curie ended their season. His running mate, 6-2 SR Tyler Beard, can attack and defend with equal zeal. Young returns 11 of 14 players, but only one taller than 6-5.
