HEAD COACH: Harper Hudnall (662-251-9732) … EMAIL: hhudnall@mrapats.org
MRA begins a new era under first-year head coach Harper Hudnall, after the retirement of Richard Duease, who spent 44 years at the school and is the nation’s all-time, third-winningest coach (1,293-452). Of course, the Patriots’ showpiece remains 6-9 JR Erick Dampier, Jr. (15.9 ppg, 13.1 rpg, 2.7 apg, 2.7 blocks), whose combination of power and finesse make him one of America’s most coveted prospects. He is the son of former 16-year NBA veteran Erick Dampier. Other contributors include three-year starter 6-2 SR Jack Dalton (9.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and reliable guard 6-2 JR Caeden Harvey (10.3 ppg, 2.6 apg, 53-percent shooter). … Madison-Ridgeland closed with 19 consecutive wins after suffering both of its losses during a four-day span in late December, beating Jackson Academy 65-53 in the MAIS title game behind Dampier’s 25 points, 12 boards and eight blocks.
