Coach Anthony Shahbaz’s club won 10 consecutive games down the stretch to claim its first state championship, and return a high-profile player in 6-3 JR Dante Allen (21.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 3.7 apg), along with a handful of key contributors that includes 7-0 JR Gustavo Guimarees (6.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg), who had 20 points, eight rebounds and five blocks in Riviera’s 51-27 smothering of Windermere Prep in the state-title game, and 6-0 FRESH Myles Fuentes (9.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.2 rpg), whose basket with one second remaining allowed the Bulldogs to beat Tampa Catholic 68-67 in the semifinals.
