HEAD COACH: Kevin Boyle

Hall of Fame coach Kevin Boyle (902-171 overall), entering his second season at SPIRE after relocating from Montverde Academy, makes his record 21st appearance at the City of Palms Classic – and, as you’d assume, he has assembled a talented roster that includes three top-15 seniors and a top-5 sophomore. The main attractions are 6-5 SR King Gibson (15.0 ppg, 3.7 apg, 3.4 rpg in EYBL Scholastic League play), who followed his coach to Ohio a year ago, along with transfers 6-8 SR Moussa Kamissoko (12.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in EYBL Scholastic at Long Island Lutheran), 5-11 SR Micah Gordon (24.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 5.1 apg, 2.9 steals at Plainfield NJ) and 6-10 SOPH Miguel Sousa, who played two years for Valencia BC, one of the top professional basketball clubs in Spain’s Liga ACB. Depth abounds, led by Houston verbal 6-1 SR Darrell Davis and 6-9 SR Charles Chienggan Pur, as well as imports 6-5 JR Marceles Duncan (16.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg at Aurora Rangeview CO) and 6-4 SOPH David Johnson (Oak Hill Academy). … Boyle (363-34 in 14 years at Montverde, with seven Chipotle Nationals and BallisLife FAB 50 crowns) is an unprecedented 59-14 at the City of Palms and is 7-7 in COP championship games (6-2 with the Eagles). He did not claim the first-place trophy, though, until his 10th trip to Fort Myers with Elizabeth St. Patrick (N.J.), in 2010.
