Iberia Bank has decided to bring a big time contest to the Culligan City of Palms Classic. Basketball fans will have a chance to pick up an easy $10,000 in cash. All one has to do is make 4 simple shots. Easy right? One more thing: The shooters have to do it in 24 seconds. Not only do you have to be ultra-accurate but fast, too.
Two fans, aged 18 and older and legal U.S. citizens, will have the chance to take home the money during the tournament on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College. Iberia Bank is sponsoring the shots to glory, but there are some restrictions. Under guidelines set by Grand Prize Promotions, you can’t have played professional, semi-professional basketball or played in the Olympics. You can’t have played at the high school or college level within the past six years. You can’t have coached at the high school level in the past six years. You can’t work for or be affiliated with Iberia or GPP.
Other than that, you are free to give it go by registering for your chance to be a finalist, beginning at 11 a.m. on Dec. 19 inside the arena. Fans can register until about 5:30 p.m. or the conclusion of the 4 p.m. game. The public address announcer will name the two finalists who will take their shots during halftime of the 5:30 p.m. game. It is free to register.
The two chosen contestants must make the 4 shots in order. They can take as many shots as they want for the first three shots, but they will have only one attempt for the last. Also, the contestants must retrieve their own errant shots after the first three attempts.
What are the odds of make all four shots and doing it in 24 seconds? Astronomical but not impossible. In 2018, Kyle Kishnick, then a senior at Texas A&M International University, made the 4-shot sequence in less than 25 seconds and won $25,000.
Should the finalists fall victim to the high odds, the tournament will have consolation prizes available. Good luck.
