Classic could be immediate next step to the pros
As the pathway to the pros continues to change, the Culligan City of Palms Classic, ranked the No. 1 basketball tournament in the U.S., is close to becoming the immediate next step to the NBA for many alums.
The future of the NCAA’s “One and Done” rule remains tenuous at best. Without the rule, players could jump right from high school to the NBA draft or developmental G League without spending one year on the college courts. And more players are going right into the G League after preps rather than taking a year in college.
Recently, high school star Jalen Green announced he was entering the NBA G League professional pathway program. The Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep standout joins Class of 2020 stars Isaiah Todd, Josh Hall and MarJon Beauchamp, who are bypassing college for the pros.
