Culligan City of Palms Classic places 10 on 2019 McDonald’s rosters

|

This year’s McDonald’s All American Boys Game will look familiar to fans who watch the Culligan City of Palms Classic. Ten of the 24 players on the McDonald’s rosters announced Thursday have appeared in the City of Palms, one shy of the record 11 City of Palms players chosen for the 2017 McDonald’s event.

For the first time, the McDonald’s rosters include three players from the same high school. That school, IMG Academy (Bradenton), finished fifth at the Culligan City of Palms Classic this past December.

The Culligan City of Palms has played host to the last two McDonald’s All American Game MVPs. Last year, Orlando Christian Prep (Orange Park) forward Nassir Little became the ninth City of Palms alum to win that honor all-time. In 2017, Michael Porter, Jr. of Father Tolton High (Columbia, Missouri) followed up his strong City of Palms performance with a McDonald’s MVP.

Little now plays for the University of North Carolina, and Porter is in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets.

This year’s McDonald’s game will feature the last two City of Palms Classic Dunk Contest winners — Scottie Lewis of the Ranney School (Tinton Falls, New Jersey), who won the 2017 contest, and 2018 champ Cole Anthony of Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Virginia).

All-time, 155 City of Palms players have taken part in the McDonald’s All American Game. The 10 selected this year will bring that total to 165.
