CITY OF PALMS SEED: 2

Coach John Buck’s program achieved new heights in 2023-24, reaching the City of Palms championship game and winning 10 of 12 games during the Nike EYBL Scholastic League season and qualifying for the Chipotle Nationals, where its season came to an end with a 71-58 setback to Miami Columbus in the quarterfinals. LuHi’s best-known player, 6-5 SR Kiyan Anthony – son of 10-time NBA All-Star and likely first-ballot Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony – has made major strides this summer, averaging 29.5 ppg at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and dropping 40 points in a game at the Nike Peach Jam. Penn State recruit 6-2 SR Kayden Mingo, a third-team all-EYBL Scholastic selection (15.2 ppg in league games) and Marquette-bound 6-0 SR Nigel James will supplement a sturdy backcourt. … A fascinating transfer addition is fluid 6-8 SOPH Moussa Kamissoko (Trinity-Pawling NY), who has an above-the-rim game and was already considered New York’s top prospect in the Class of 2027. LuHi addressed its front-line needs with a trio of transfers: 6-11 JR Omar Essam (11.3 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.7 blocks for Egypt in the FIBA U17 World Cup), 6-9 JR M.J. Madison (10 ppg, 5.2 rpg at Pace Academy GA) and rim-protector 7-1 SR Nico Onyekwere. … Two of the Crusaders’ 21 wins last season came against Link Academy (Mo.). … Buck is 311-64 during his tenure.
