Coach Joe Zeglinski’s Raiders won 10 games en route to a top-three finish in the difficult Philadelphia Catholic League and are the preseason PCL favorites, returning all but 14.4 ppg – led by first-team All-League center and Georgetown recruit 6-9 SR Thomas Sorber (17.8 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 4.2 blocks, 2.5 apg) and Florida Gulf Coast commit guard 6-4 SR Darren Williams (15.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg), a Florida Gulf Coast pledge. Sorber had 14 points, 10 boards and nine blocks – the ninth coming on a late corner 3-pointer – in Ryan’s 69-65 upset of then-unbeaten Radnor in the PIAA Class 5A state quarterfinals, with Williams exploding for 28 points. … The supporting cast is highlighted by 6-1 SR Ryan Everett, who had nine points in the PIAA semifinal loss to Imhotep, but the Raiders also return 6-6 SR Jaden Murray and a pair of guards, 6-1 SR Rocco Morabito and 6-3 SR Christian Durham, who sat out the playoffs because of PIAA transfer rules. … Sorber averaged 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks (third-best) in six games at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.
