The three-time reigning Thimlar Tribute champion returns to defend the trophy, boasting some size (although injured 6-8 SOPH Dee Fletcher’s 12.5 ppg & 7.8 rpg are missing until at least January) and experience. In the meantime, head coach Matt Herting (517-331 in 30 seasons, 27 of them at Bishop Verot) can lean on his three other returning starters – 6-4 JR Julius Calixte (10 ppg, 7.4 rpg), 6-6 SOPH Kymani Nixon (8 ppg, 5 rpg) and 6-2 SR Arrie Davis (8 ppg, 2.5 rpg). … The Vikings were 4-40 in 24 City of Palms appearances from 1973-2013, but have beaten Fort Myers 58-39, Charlotte 59-43 and Barron Collier 75-54 in the past three Thimlar Tribute games.
