One of Florida’s top programs makes its third City of Palms appearance under coach Cilk McSweeney, having finished fifth in both previous trips. The Eagles’ fortunes this time will revolve around the most explosive, must-watch point guard in the Class of 2027, 6-0 SR Cayden Daughtry (26.5 ppg, 5.2 apg, 4.5 rpg, 2.7 steals), who went nuclear while driving Calvary Christian to its state-title repeat. He followed that up with a scintillating spring/summer, leading the Nike EYBL circuit in

scoring (25.6 ppg), ranking third in assists (6.0 apg) and powering the Florida Rebels to the championship of July’s prestigious Peach Jam in Augusta, Ga. Whether Calvary can match or exceed its past City of Palms success depends upon a bevy of new arrivals: 6-1 SR James Nowells (18.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.8 apg), 6-6 JR Alex Jenkins (18.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg at Pine Crest), 6-10 JR Anthony Goring (SPIRE Academy OH), 6-7 JR Rukai Bethel (5.0 ppg, 7 rpg at Southeastern Prep), 6-4 JR Reggie Hayes (12.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.4 apg at Port St. Lucie Centennial) and 6-3 JR Lunden Knights (18.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg at Chaminade-Madonna). … Calvary played a dual schedule, competing in high school games while also appearing in Atlanta’s Overtime Elite league, then obliterated its seven postseason opponents by nearly 34 points per game and smashed The Villages 87-51 in the finale.
