CITY OF PALMS SEED: 3

An undefeated, historic run through the 2023-24 season included a record fifth City of Palms Classic banner, seventh Chipotle Nationals crown and seventh BallisLife FAB 50 national championship under COP Hall of Fame coach Kevin Boyle, as Montverde Academy beat 24 teams that were nationally ranked at some point. But as Cooper Flagg exits stage-right and Boyle prepares for his 20th COP appearance, a large new flock of Eagles arrived – Creighton commit 6-6 SR Hudson Greer (22.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg at Austin Lake Travis TX), Villanova recruit 6-3 SR Dante Allen (21 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3 apg, 3.4 steals at two-time Florida 3A state champ Miami Riviera Prep), LSU pledge 6-5 SR Mazi Mosley (22.5 ppg at LaCanada St. Francis CA), Indiana-bound 6-7 SR Trent Sisley (24.2 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 4.3 apg at Lincoln City Heritage Hills IN) and 6-6 JR Gabe Weis (13.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg at Washington County KY), along with November arrival and Florida recruit 6-6 SR Cornelius “CJ” Ingram (24 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 3.7 apg, 3.7 steals at 1A Hawthorne FL). They’ll be joined by returners 6-5 JR Kayden Allen and 6-2 JR Dhani Miller. … Boyle (344-26 at MVA, 854-158 overall) is an unprecedented 56-13 in his 19 previous City of Palms Classics and is 7-6 in COP championship games (6-1 with the Eagles). He did not claim the first-place trophy, though, until his 10th trip to Fort Myers with Elizabeth St. Patrick (N.J.), in 2010.
