Knights At A Glance

Coach Tom Mott’s program has reached a state final and quarterfinal over a dominant two-year stretch, powered by one of the nation’s most physical scorers, Baylor commit 6-5 SR Tounde Yessoufou (32.3 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 2.6 steals, 2.1 apg). Last year’s Open Division run featured a 69-68 win over Sierra Canyon, but ended two nights later in a 58-41 loss to Roosevelt. Yessoufou piled up 40-plus points seven times in 2023-24, including a career-high 46-point outburst in a win over Duncanville (Texas) at the prestigious King Cotton Classic (Pine Bluff, Ark.). The Knights’ other top threat, 6-3 JR Julius Price (19.7 ppg, 7 apg, 4.2 rpg, 1.9 steals), was the second-leading scorer while playing for Sweden in the FIBA U18 European championships. … There are also a pair of younger talents who already are garnering offers: 6-0 SOPH Malcolm Price (4.6 ppg, 2 rpg, 1.6 apg) and 6-9 SOPH Godson Eyita (2.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg).
