Several COP alums took their games virtual and participated in the NBA 2K tourney on Xbox One recently.
DeAndre Ayton, who played in the 2016 Classic for Phoenix Hillcrest and the 2014 tournament with Balboa (Calif.) City School, reached the final where he was swept by Suns teammate Devin Booker in the best-of-three event. The winner received $100,000 to go towards coronavirus relief efforts. Ayton was the top pick in the 2018 NBA draft.
Derrick Jones, who played for Philadelphia Archbishop Carroll in the 2014 Classic and won the slam dunk competition, beat Kevin Durant, 78-62, in the first round, but then lost in the next round to Montrezl Harrell, 71-66. Jones is currently a member of the Miami Heat.
Michael Porter Jr. who played for Columbia (Mo.) Father Tolton in the 2015 Classic, was stopped in the first round by Booker, 85-75. Porter is a member of the Denver Nuggets.
